Role debut as Nicklausse for Roberts this March

August 16, 2013

This March, American mezzo-soprano Irene Roberts makes her return to Palm Beach Opera to take on the role of Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann for the first time. The production also stars Italian tenor Giuseppe Filianoti as Hoffmann and bass-baritone Mark Delavan as the Four Villians. Roberts is an audience favorite at the south Florida company, appearing there nearly every year since 2008, most recently as Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, which garnered Roberts praise for her “commanding, dark voice” (Palm Beach Post).
